So, it is not Asdal but Arthdal.  Haha.

According to the writers’ latest interview (I’ll translate it later), Arthdal 아스달  is “Earth” (minus E-) with “dal” (meaning “land” in archaic Korean).  Therefore,

Arthdal means an imaginary land which existed somewhere in ancient earth. (Maybe, bronze age? I’m not sure about the period)

Last year, almost every Korean news reports guessed from the title that it is the story of Asadal (the capital city of the first ancient Korean kingdom, Gojoseon) so I wrote about Gojosoen mythology and my speculations last year (Here is my post). After all,  I was totally wrong. (sigh)

Arthdal Chronicles seems to be not a Korean (Gojoseon period) Sageuk, but a fantasy (or mythology) set in pre-hitorical civilization.  I want to talk about the writer’s interview and main characters later.
